The highly-awaited Season 2 of the adult animated musical series Hazbin Hotel launches on the streaming platform soon, and audience theories has been intense.
Season 1 introduces a large cast of characters residing in Hell and Heaven, pits them against each other accompanied by songs about their clashes, and establishes tense rivalries and emotional bonds that fuel audience devotion.
The community's expectations for the new season vary widely, but certain themes emerge over and over: Will a fan-favorite character escape his tormentor? Will we find out more about the binding agreement constraining the enigmatic Alastor? Might certain characters' relationships evolve?
"Naturally, I don't produce the show with audience demands as the main goal," the creator commented earlier this year. "But I feel like me being a devotee of the series means there's a lot of it just inherently. I also want to see these things, and I hope some of these things to occur, and obviously some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
She reveals her long-term vision is for a five-season run of Hazbin Hotel. Future installments have received approval by Prime Video and A24, which produce the series.
That might mean viewers have to wait years for some of the biggest payoffs — but they may be surprised at how fast the new season moves, and how much of what they're anticipating unfolds now.
"I believe people are going to be highly satisfied," she adds. "We get some firsts. I think we receive some incredible reveals, some fascinating backstories, and even just simple things, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] Audiences will experience additional musical numbers from the previously silent cast members."
She's certainly aware of the guesses and hopes about the upcoming season — especially in the format of audience prediction charts.
"I've come across a few fans create a prediction grid about season 2," she mentions. "Obviously I won't share it, but I've already completed a few items, and almost all of them have almost a bingo. I thought, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that leads me to believe we accomplish much [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I realized, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that brings me joy."
Hazbin Hotel season 2 premieres on Prime Video on October 29.
